Commonly used chemical sand-fixing materials include:water glass, cement slurry, petroleum products, and high-absorbent resin. Existing chemical sand-fixing agents clay, although they have the effect of sand-fixing, will form a crust on the surface of the sand-fixing layer, which hinders the infiltration of water the water-preserving layer of the desert, thereby affecting the growth of plants.
Using BRT-025F and acrylic acid copolymers as surface treatment agents it forms hydrophobic channels between the pores of the solidified sand particles agglomerates, allowing precipitation to quickly penetrate below the water-preserving layer. At the same time this hydrophobic channel can also prevent the evaporation movement of water from the deep desert. While fixing the sand, it allows precipitation to infiltrate fully, which is conducive plant growth.
As shown in the following sand column water resistance test, the sand column treated with copolymers did not show any detachment or loosening. This indicates the water resistance performance has been significantly improved.
