HS Code: 2904. Hydrocarbon derivatives, sulfonamides, nitrogen compounds, etc.
Used as cationic flocculant and industrial wastewater treatment agent. Properties: Also known as polyazanilene. A water-soluble polymer with a viscous, colorless or pale yellow liquid appearance.
It is hygroscopic, soluble in water and ethanol, but insoluble in benzene. Commercially available solutions typically contain 20%-50% concentration.
In papermaking, polymers with a degree of polymerization around 100 produce positively charged aqueous solutions. A 5% solution has a pH of 8-11 and gels under acidic conditions. Polyethyleneimine exhibits high reactivity, cross-linking with cellulose hydroxyl groups to enhance wet strength and provide dry reinforcement. However, its wet strength and retention rate are affected by acids, alkalis, or aluminum sulfate. Primarily used as a wet strength agent for uncoated absorbent papers (e.g., filter paper, blotting paper, toilet paper), though causing paper damage is challenging to address.
Additionally, it accelerates pulp dewatering and facilitates fine fiber flocculation in white water. It demonstrates strong binding affinity for acid dyes, serving as a fixation agent during acid dyeing processes. The compound also treats cellophane to reduce wet deformation.
Polyethyleneimine finds applications in fiber modification, textile auxiliaries, ion exchange resins, coagulation/sedimentation processes (including metal capture and wastewater treatment), and other industrial fields.
