Tetrahydroxypropyl Ethylenediamine (EDTP) is mainly used as a chelating builder and rust prevention auxiliary in industrial cleaning. It is suitable for various cleaning scenarios, especially systems requiring both descaling and corrosion protection.

Core Application:

  • Metal Surface Cleaning: Used in degreasing and oxide scale removal cleaning fluids for metal workpieces such as steel, aluminum, and copper. Its chelating property can capture calcium, magnesium ions in water and residual iron, copper ions on metal surfaces, avoiding the formation of secondary scale or stains. Meanwhile, its mild alkalinity reduces corrosion to metal substrates, and a temporary rust-proof film can be formed after cleaning.
  • Heavy-Duty Hard Surface Cleaning: Suitable for descaling of equipment pipelines, heat exchangers, boilers, etc. It can react with calcium carbonate, iron hydroxide in scale to form water-soluble chelates, quickly stripping stubborn scale layers without damaging equipment substrates. It is particularly suitable for cleaning under high-hardness water conditions.
  • Low-Foam Cleaning Systems: Applied in low-foam scenarios such as high-pressure spray cleaning and ultrasonic cleaning. EDTP itself has low foam. When combined with non-ionic surfactants, it can enhance the permeability and emulsifying power of the cleaning fluid, improve degreasing efficiency, and is easy to rinse without residue.
  • Precision Instrument/Electronic Component Cleaning: Added as a builder to neutral or weakly alkaline cleaning fluids, it chelates metal impurities and prevents their adsorption on the surface of precision components. At the same time, it avoids corrosion or residues during cleaning, ensuring instrument performance.

Application Advantages

  • Strong Compatibility: Can be compounded with anionic surfactants, non-ionic surfactants, and alkaline auxiliaries (such as sodium hydroxide, silicate) without affecting the stability of the cleaning fluid.
  • Environmental-Friendly and Low Toxicity: Has good biodegradability. Compared with traditional chelating agents (such as EDTA), it is more environmentally friendly, and the treatment pressure of cleaning waste liquid is lower.
  • Temperature and Alkali Resistance: Maintains stable chelating performance under high temperature (above 80℃) and high alkaline environments, adapting to industrial high-temperature cleaning processes.
